SER Scholar Angél Garcés’s research poster was awarded the third place Smalley Prize for Nanotechnology in the Spring 2015 Rice University Undergraduate Research Symposium and Third Place in the Summer 2015 IBB Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. Based on his experience with the SER Scholar’s program, he has also been hired as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Professor Drezek’s laboratory. Angél is a Sophomore Chemistry major from Allen, Texas working in Professor Rebekah Drezek’s laboratory in Bioengineering. Angél spent the summer working on gold nanoparticle enabled delivery of antigens for immunotherapy. Angél’s long-term goal is to get a Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry.
